Michael Ball  AKA "BALLSY"

“Ballsy” as most people know him now, has long been a fixture in morning radio in Regina and in the sports world as host of the Roughrider COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF  Pre-Game show and Roughrider Round Table – Call in show on 620 CKRM and the RIDER RADIO NETWORK.  He also gets into the on-field action as a sideline reporter during Rider home games.

 

Ballsy is leading voice for amateur football in Canada. For 16 years he was the radio voice of the University of Regina Rams. In addition to his radio career, Michael was both the anchor and producer of a one hour weekly TV sports show on Access Now from 2001 to 2004.

 

Early on in his radio career, Ballsy was pressed into duty as the play by play voice on the 2001 Memorial Cup radio broadcast. In the winter months you  can catch him as the voice of amateur hockey on Access Now.  

 

He is also involved with various charities and events in Saskatchewan. Ballsy played a significant role in creating the famous downtown Regina event entitled "Stix on Rose". In 12 years, the street hockey tournament has brought NHLERS and local celebrities together with the community and raised over 1 million dollars for Palliative Care and children's charities in Saskatchewan. In addition, "Ballsy" has boxed in 4 charity events to help raise over $50,000 for 2 local boxing clubs in support of young athletes. Michael also helped to organize and emcee events in support of the Sofia House women's shelter, raising almost 100 thousand dollars in the last 10 years. 

 

Ballsy is very active on the Saskatchewan banquet circuit as a highly sought after emcee.

 

Michael not only talks a good game but also plays one. He was a member of the Regina Rams from 1990 to 1993, winning a Canadian Championship with the team in 1993.  Michael makes his home year-round in Regina
